Thing.1 : Customize your pics selection tool
Mr. Brusco observed my Chinese I class today and posted this gif on Twitter. :) if you are interested in making this as your selection tool in your class. Please let me know. I can go to your room and customize them for you.

We use another pic selection tool in 2011. When my Chinese program had Teachers' Appreciation Day at Moreau. Students had to show their appreciation to 25 faulty/staff/coach and ask for their signatures. Then we use this tool to play bingo. It was so fun.

Thing.2 : follow three interesting people/ org from Twitter
If you are friend with Mr. Prisk at Facebook, then you will know what he likes most for his lunch, dinner and even a special ramen store!! Here were few of my recent followings at Twitter below. Do you think you can guess what I like most?? :)
Thing.3 : share my four reading books
It's not a read-a thong...... hahhahha..... However, being a non-English native speaker, I absolutely need PLENTY of time to finish these books. I was so inspired by these authors. This will be my new year resolution: always think of student-centered learning, individualized learning and competency-based learning while I am designing the lessons.

Those two books below were from Moreau library. There are some rubrics and high- order thinking models in the books that I can modify and use them in class. I like the general rubrics for fundamental skills, checklists and proficiency-based rubrics. They are useful for my world language class.I need buy the rubrics one and have it in hand.

Thing.1 : Get certified in the library and use 3D Printer for kids' personal Chinese seal
First of all, I would like to thank Ms. Simons. She instructed the students about how to open TinkerCad on their browsers. After signing up, they began using the 3D sculpting canvas to create the three characters of their Chinese name. After sculpting their Chinese names, If students wanted a physical form of the sculpt, they could have connected their computer to the library's 3D printers and, after going through the short certification process, printed their name as a seal.
Thing. 2 : Technology integrated into teaching and learning
At Moreau, integrating technology into teaching and learning indeed is an everyday learning method.
Writing Chinese characters is always considered a challenge for beginners. With the user-friendly character database, students are able to practice the words they have learned anytime and anywhere.
Thing. 3 : Station-rotation + student-centered learning + leadership
in class we form small groups and, among these student-led groups, we switch roles and topics according to what I see fit. The goals are to improve on the areas of trouble that I see the students struggling with, while also building their leadership and responsibility. Inspiration, engagement, and transformation are the cores to successful learning.

Thing.1 : Game-based learning for students to learn new vocab/phrases with fun
Have you ever had this kind of experience before? When you learn or try something for the first time, you feel so excited; however, when you keep on learning or doing, especially when you are in your second year, you might lose the happy moments and jest feel exhausted. I totally know how that feels. :)
In their second year of learning Chinese, students need A LOT of vocabulary so they can express clearly. The best way to keep kids interested. . . is by playing games. We started from the flashcard games and moved on to digital games. I used several game templates from Taiwanese friends, customized them with the contents I taught, and used them in class.

Thing.2 : Use their own words to read a child book for lower level students
There are not a lot of Chinese reading books for Chinese learners, so we'll make some.
Chinese IV students make their own stories based on popular American children's books, but rewrite them in Chinese.
1. Pair up the kids
2. Find an interesting book they had read when they were little.
3. Rewrite the story in Chinese.
4. Practice and tell the story in class and get feedback from other classmates. (this was the first time they used my Logitech laser wireless presenter)
5. Will record the story via Movenote for lower level students during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thing.3 : student-center learning
I went to the STARTALK post conference in Texas on Oct. 24-25. And since most of the participants were World Language teachers, I had a great time learning from others. The most important topic I am currently following is how to facilitate a learner-centered classroom. Below are the whole presentation ppt and handouts given out at the conference.
